Diamonds in the Rough

I got my fill of news today

Nothing good anyway

Oh, What’s this thing called life for

When everyone seems to be shutting the door

On you

Just trying to keep your head up

above all the mess of

the garbage of what everyone is trying to feed you

Make you keep searching for a lost truth

“Chorus”

So tell me

When did we stop being kind and lending a hand

When did my neighbor become my enemy, not my friend

The way I see it

Is we’re all Diamonds in the Rough

Because we all have a story

And we all got a past

But all we can do now

is put one foot in front of the other

And hope for the best

I don’t want this world to change me

So I’m going to walk a different kind of path

My journey may be a little lonesome

And go against the grain

But I’m okay with that

So tell me

When did we stop being kind and lending a hand

When did my neighbor become my enemy, not my friend

The way I see it

Is we’re all Diamonds in the Rough

Go ahead and call me a Rebel

But don’t call me a hypocrite

Because I still believe love is the answer

And I’m gonna love those Diamonds every chance I get

I’m not responsible for what you do

I may not change the world

Or solve every problem

But I can change me

And be a helping hand
